Special Events Sales Tax

As of July 1, 2003, the promoter of a special event held in the Town of Castle Rock is required to hold a business license and remit taxes on the behalf of all individual vendors that attend the event.

An event is considered a special event when three or more vendors are organized to sell items for up to seven consecutive days. Vendors who hold events on consecutive weekends do not fall under these provisions of a special event. However, they may elect to do so and have the promoter license and remit taxes on the behalf of all individual vendors.

All individual vendors must apply for a license with the State of Colorado.

Castle Rock Farmers Market

The Castle Rock (Plum Creek Valley Farmers Market) has been around since 1987. It was started by a Douglas County Master Gardener in cooperation with the CSU Extension Office. The Market emphasizes vegetables and fruits and there are three large vegetable growers and two large fruit growers that sell at the market. In addition, there are many specialty items sold and an information booth manned by Master Gardeners to answer questions related to horticulture and food safety.
