2012 Completed Eagle Scout Projects

2014 Completed Eagle Scout Projects

Thank you Eagle Scouts

Special thanks to these Boy Scouts who completed their projects towards earning their rank of Eagle Scout in 2014:

  • Jacob Wheeler, from Troop 332 in Elizabeth, constructed six bluebird nest-boxes which were used for 2015 for site expansion at Philip S. Miller Park.

  • Brian Cowgill, from Troop 451, constructed and installed four split-log benches on the Red Hawk side of Stewart Trail at Ridgeline Open Space.

  • James Kennedy, from Troop 260, charted and mapped six incremental fitness routes using a combination of the Town soft surfaced, paved, and sidewalks. After the routes were completed, the DOIT GIS team, created an interactive map on the Town website where residents can see the routes, elevation change and print out a flyer / route PDF.

  • Boy Scouts Justin Hunter, from Troop 365 in Castle Pines North, and Jacob Shreffler, from Troop 780, both completed trail reroute projects in the un-named open space parcel between the Recreation Center and Castle Rock Elementary School along Woodlands Boulevard. The area needed to be reworked to provide more sustainable routes for the residents to use from the surrounding neighborhoods. As part of that overall plan, POST worked with these two Eagle Scouts to reclaim eroded portions of the trails and forge new segments that are more sustainable. Justin Hunter closed and reclaimed segments and forged new segments between Woodlands Boulevard and Gigi Street. Jacob Shreffler closed and reclaimed segments between the pedestrian crossing on Woodlands Boulevard and access behind the Castle Rock Elementary School playground and forged two new, more sustainable segments through heavy patches of scrub oak.
