Chilly weather moves Winter Express event to Friday, Dec. 16

If you were planning to take a ride on the Castle Rock Winter Express this Saturday, we want you to know your ticket has changed.

Forecasters predict temperatures will be in the single digits on Saturday, and up to 5 inches of snow is expected – too chilly for even us Colorado folks to be outdoors at an event. But we’re not giving up on the fun.

Instead, the activities planned as part of Winter Express will join the Town’s Reindeer Games event from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Millhouse and Amphitheater at PSM Park, 1375 W. Plum Creek Parkway. Here’s the details:

  • Events are being combined but remain free!
  • The train station will be at the Millhouse. The train will take passengers on a 1-mile ride along paved trails in PSM Park. The trails will be decorated as a winter wonderland.
  • Reindeer Games activities include Santa, live reindeer, cookies, s’mores, hot chocolate, crafts, hay rides around the park, outdoor games, and a winter-themed obstacle course.
  • Families can still dress up as elves for selfies. However, carriage rides will not be part of this event.
  • World Compass Academy’s advance student choir will be caroling from 3 to 5 p.m.
  • Please dress warmly and bring your holiday spirit. This is expected to be a popular event!
  • Parking is available at the park.
  • Winter break for most schools starts Dec. 16, so join us and start your winter break in the holiday spirit.

Season of the Star will continue Dec. 24
There are two more events planned as part of the second annual Season of the Star event series, presented by the Promenade at Castle Rock. Dress warmly and get the family Downtown for these fun events and activities:

Dec. 24: Christmas Eve Candlelight Services, 4-5 p.m., Festival Park

Dec. 31: Castle Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, 5-8 p.m., Festival Park

Castle Rockin’ New Year’s Eve event will include a dazzling multimedia show.
