CRFD is on the scene of a brush fire near Founders Parkway and Saddleback Drive

Castle Rock Fire and Rescue is currently working a brush fire near the Terrain neighborhood in northeast Castle Rock. No homes are threatened at this time. A lightning strike is believed to be the cause.

The call came in around 3 p.m. Friday. The fire has burned approximately 3 acres on the Scott/Walker property near Founders Parkway and Saddleback Drive. Crews are currently on scene. Portions of Founders Parkway are temporarily closed. A detour is in place from Crimson Sky to Rising Sun drives.

The fire is about one-half mile from any structures. However, a CodeRED has been issued to keep residents in the area informed.

It’s important to note, drones are not allowed in the area. A helicopter is dropping water overhead to help fight the fire.
