New left-turn at U.S. 85 and Meadows nears completion. Watch for officers directing traffic Tuesday

Construction crews have nearly completed their work to add a second left-turn lane at U.S. Highway 85 and Meadows Parkway. But before traffic gets better as a result of this improvement, the Town is asking for drivers’ patience.

Since earlier this month, crews have been working to install an additional left-turn lane from northbound U.S. 85 to westbound Meadows Parkway. Drivers may have noticed less activity this past week. Crews had laid the concrete foundation for a new signal there and were waiting for the concrete to cure, which takes seven days.

The final phase of the project is to install the new signal pole and remove the existing one on the northeast corner of the intersection. The new pole will have a longer mast arm to accommodate the new lane.

Today (Monday, July 31), crews will install the new signal pole. Then, on Tuesday, Aug. 1, the signal will be in “flash mode,” so the new pole can be properly wired into the signal control box. For the safety of the traveling public, uniformed officers will direct traffic while that work is being done.

Delays are expected. Please drive safely through this and all construction areas. An alternate route is to continue on U.S. 85 north to North Meadows Drive. It’s worth noting alternate routes of Coachline Road and Prairie Hawk Drive are under construction.

The project is expected to help relieve congestion for drivers headed into The Meadows from the south end of Town. It should be completed before school starts the week of Aug. 7.

Please drive safely and stay tuned to message boards in the area. View a map of all Town lane and road closures at
